Wapnö Gård

WELCOME TO WAPNÖ- AN OPEN FARM YOU CAN VISIT!

Wapnö FARM

Wapnö has been working actively for a sustainable environment for over 25 years and during this time we have built a unique organic life cycle at the farm. Maybe that is why you can´t find a similar farm in Sweden, or even in the world, today. We are going that extra mile to look after our animals, our land and consumers.

OUr LIFE CYCLE

When you visit Wapnö Gård, you can walk the farm's fields, feel the smell of hay, drive the tractor, experience the well-being of the animals, eat and drink the farm's tasty and healthy products and keep warm with the farm's renewable energy. Wapnö is true. See our cycle Our life cycle at the farm.

aGRICULTURE

The land is our most important resource and the farm comprises around 3,000 hectares of fields and pastures and 550 hectares of FSC-certified forest. Our own spring water sources are of excellent quality. In a farming landscape, water is a fundamental part of the cycle.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

Everything that is digested in the biogas plant comes from the farm, where the cow's manure accounts for the largest share. In the digestion process, approx. 3,000 tonnes are converted into energy, leaving approx. 40,000 tonnes of high-quality plant nutrition for our fields.

GREENHOUSE

Cultivation takes place in soil that receives its nutrition from our own bio-fertilizer. The greenhouses are heated by the farm's renewable energy - an important part of the work to reduce climate impact and reach Co2 neutrality.

FrEERANGE ANIMALS

All approx. 1400 cows and 2300 calves and heifers are free range all year round. During the winter, they roam freely in large stables where they can eat, go for a walk or lie down and rest whenever they wish. During the summer months, the cows can choose whether they want to graze outside or inside. The pastures where cows and heifers graze contribute to a beautiful landscape and increased biodiversity.

QUALITY & SUSTAINABILITY

At Wapnö, we work according to strict environmental and quality rules. As far as possible, we want to both be self-sufficient and act as role models in environmental and recycling work. Land, water and animals are resources that we humans must gratefully and carefully cooperate with.

HistorY

Wapnö Gård in Halland is a unique property with a fascinating history. Since the 14th century, it has been one of the leading estates in the country and has been inhabited by, among others, Märta Ulfsdotter, Saint Birgitta's daughter, and belonged to Field Marshal Magnus Stenbock. The picture above shows Vapnöstenen, one of a total of four runestones in Halland, and probably the oldest of them, from the early Middle Ages (5th - 16th century)
